Report:
This was a new trip that the Trails Club had not done before, researched and organised by Debbie Marshbank, and which everyone seemed to enjoy. It is a five night, catered, base camp trip with four days of guided hiking. One stays in sturdy 2-man tents with stretchers and mattresses provided, with a marquee tent for meals at set tables.
The hiking covers 60km over the four days, and varies from jeep tracks to paths and kloofs/canyons with river crossings, and requires a good level of fitness. It is organised and guided by two lovely ladies, Suzette and Johanna, who live in the area and guide us on each day’s hike. These trips take place between June and September as it is a winter flowering season, and summer gets too hot.
The environment is pristine, with many unusual plant and flower species to be seen, as well as the beautiful quiver trees. The pictures below give an indication of the terrain and unique beauty of the area.
